Cinco de Mayo

Ruth and I go to Mexico frequently; last winter we spent 4 months there.  Obviously, we love Mexico – the weather, the people, the food, the beer.  Last winter we learned that Cinco de Mayo is a secondary holiday in Mexico which is rarely celebrated in Mexico.  Rather, it is a holiday like many in America that being pushed by a commercial venture; in this case beer companies, most importantly Corona.  Like many holidays in America, holiday greeting cards promote Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and Teacher’s Day, etc.  So why not one promoted by a beer company?  At Small Country, we have celebrated Cinco de Mayo because it is just another fun event, with nachos and beer and pinatas.  And that’s what we will be doing Saturday, May 5, from 11:30 am until 2:00 pm.  Join us as we drink to our neighbors south of the border.
