Wineries & Vineyards Near Louisa, Virginia in the Monticello Area Viticultural Area

All palates and all tastes can be pleased in the surrounding area. Louisa and Xion Crossroads offer a side range of food from Asian to Italian and Mexican, with down home country American cooking in between. Try any one of these:

Burnley Vineyards
Our personal favorite, only 16 miles from the campground! Burnley is one of the oldest vineyards in the area, with 32 acres of vines and a beautiful tasting room and banquet room overlooking the “The Heart of Virginia” countryside. Burnley’s Rivanna Sunset is a winner, but taste the entire collection from the brilliant Chardonnay and Reisling to the Cabernet Sauvignon and the dessert wine Peach Fuzz. And while in Barboursville, stop by the Barboursville Winery and Horton Vineyards, all three within a couple of miles of each other.

Lake Anna Winery
is a second generation, family owned and operated winery established in 1989 on 75 rolling acres in Spotsylvania County on Lake Anna. Another great place for a wedding, reception, private party, or corporate event, their wines have won prize after prize in national and regional competition.

Cooper Vineyards
Enjoy daily wine tastings and weekend complimentary acoustic music on the deck or in the tasting room year round. Cooper Vineyards offers a number of wines to fit a variety of tastes and is a member of the Heart of Virginia Wine Trail.

Weston Farm Vineyard and Winery
Weston is family owned and operated – visit the tasting room and be greeted by a family member or a close family friend. Bring a picnic lunch, enjoy wines, views of the vineyard, the resident French bulldog – Suzie, rescue horses, cows and display of historical items found here on the farm.

Chateau MerrillAnne
is a new vineyard near Orange offering a broad selection of handcrafted wines to be tasted March through November in the tasting room in the renovated old barn or on a covered deck area. They also have a huge open meadow where you can enjoy a picnic lunch.

VITICULTURAL AREA – The Monticello AVA
The Monticello AVA is in the central Piedmont area. The area is nestled along the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains and encompasses the small ridge known as Southwest Mountain. It is historic in that it is home to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, where Jefferson spent years trying to grow European grape varieties.
